Description
This is a contract between an F.A. Balch and the Weehawken Board of Education, dated November 22, 1900. Mr. Balch appears to have been a first grade teacher and was paid the princely sum of $1200 per year to instruct his pupils. Frank A. Balch was born in New Hampshire, raised in Massachusetts before coming to Weehawken to teach school. From 1910-1930, Frank and Elsie Balch, his wife, and son Frank, Jr., were living at a house they owned at 201 Jane Street. From the collection of the Weehawken Historical Commission.
