Black and white undated photograph of Mayor Simon Kelly. Mr. Kelly was the Mayor of Weehawken from 1885-1889 and 1891-1897. Simon Kelly was known as "King of Weehawken." Born in Ireland in 1848, he was raised in Hoboken. He held almost every public office available in Weehawken, starting about 1870. He was a founder of St. Lawrence Parish and built a hotel/roadhouse at the intersection of Boulevard East and Clifton Road in 1895, later called Van Clief's.
