Description

Black and white photo postcard, looking north from Hamilton Avenue, of a quite stately mansion that was located at what is now the south end of Hamilton Park. The impressive house with wrap around porches and an elaborate cantilevered gazebo on the north side (unseen in this photo) was one of the first 8 built in this area after the break up of the estates. The Meisters (parents to future Mayor John Meister) moved from New York City to Weehawken in 1895. The house was demolished around 1927 to make way for Hamilton Park. John C.
